'Apache Tomcat error HTTP status 404' when activating Pure Connect account
The problem you're experiencing is due to embedded security software built in to the email client used by the Tiscali mail service - which is blocking the use of the activation link within your Pure Connect activation email.
There is currently no work around for the problem other than using any other email client such as the free Hotmail and Google Mail services.

Adding your own stations to the Pure Connect list
You can add almost all live internet streaming radio content as a ‘custom station’ in Pure Connect, enabling you to add it to your Pure Connect favourites and therefore tune to it on your radio.
How do I do it?
There are a couple of things you need to know before you can add a custom station. Firstly you need to know if the station actually broadcasts a live streaming service on the internet. You’re likely to find this out by visiting their website or contacting the station directly. You can’t add a station to Pure Connect if it isn’t broadcasting on the internet.
If they are broadcasting an internet stream you will need to know the URL of that stream. Any radio station broadcasting a radio stream will have URL which points to that stream. The URL is like the address of the stream, and you’ll need to know this address to add a custom station. Again visiting the station’s website or contacting the station directly should provide you with this URL.
Once you know the streaming URL click the '+' symbol on the left hand side of the screen next to My Favourites a box will now appear, here you can enter your custom station information. Once complete you can click 'Add Custom Station'
Your station should now appear just like any other favourite on the Pure Connect and also on any Pure Flow radios or other devices you have connected to Pure Connect.

How to add stations to 'My Favourites'?

Use the ‘Search’ function or scroll to the station you want to add as a favourite. Once found you’ll notice you have a ‘Add’ button appear on the screen. Pressing this button will save the station to your default ‘ALL’ radio folder.
Saving on Pure Connect:
Before you start you must be registered and logged in to your Pure Connect account to be able to save a station as a favourite. Once logged in, click the 'Live Radio' button and use the ‘Search’ and/or filter functions to find a station you want to save. Once found you will see a heart on the bottom left of the station. Not receiving Pure Connect e-mails?
Some users, particularly users of web-mail services such as AOL or Hotmail, have reported apparent failures in receiving Pure Connect e-mails. In nearly all occasions the e-mail has arrived but has been automatically moved out of the inbox and filtered as 'spam' or 'junk' mail.
Please check your spam or junk mail folder if it looks like you haven’t received an e-mail from us and you will almost certainly find it in there (providing you used a valid e-mail address when attempting to create your account). Remember to adjust your web-mail filters accordingly so any future emails from connect.pure.com or pure.com are not interfered with.

How to find the streaming URL to add as a custom station
There are a number of different ways to extract the audio stream URL from a website - with some methods being easy (for the novice user), to more complex methods (requiring strong computer experience) - depending on the type of stream it is.
The easiest way to extract a stream URL is when the stream opens and plays in a stand alone media player like Windows Media Player. If WMP is playing a stream, you will see the name of the stream listed in the right hand side of player under ‘Now Playing’. Right clicking on the name and choosing ‘Properties’ will reveal the streaming URL address under ‘Location’.
If the stream is being played by Real Player, then you can view the streaming URL by selecting ‘View Clip Info’ under the menu bar ‘File’ option.
If the stream you want is being played by an embedded player built into the website you may still be able to extract the streaming URL but it’s more likely that the URL will not be able to be played by your radio. It is worth a try though.
Depending on the type of embedded player being used, you can sometimes right click on the player and view the properties of the stream in a similar way to if it was playing in a stand alone player (see above). If the embedded player doesn’t offer you the ‘properties’ option, you may have to view the actual webpage code to obtain the URL. Selecting the ‘View Source’ option in your web browser tools menu will allow you to see the page in text form, which may reveal the URL to you.
Another way to reveal streaming URL’s is to use software which attempts to look at any URL address currently streaming on your computer. Programs like URLSnooper2 offer this level of information, but would only be recommended for use by experienced computer users.
Tip! Obtaining any streaming URL doesn’t always guarantee the stream will be able to be played on your Flow radio. The stream will still need to be in a recognizable format that your Flow radio supports.

An internet station I normally listen to is now missing
The Pure Connect database undergoes a process called 'Stream Checking', where all database URL's and external content is checked and updated automatically on a 24 hour basis - every night (at around 4am). The process checks that the radio stream is still streaming and is online, and this helps to ensure the database remains up to date and, of course, your radio stations work.
What can sometimes happen is a radio station stream may fail the stream check process if they happen to be off-line or have changed their streaming URL address at the time of the check. This will result in the station being removed from the Pure Connect database as part of the cleanup process, and if this happens to be a station you listen to then it may not appear in the Pure Connect listings for you to play.
If you find you are missing a station that you normally listen to then you should first check with the station to see if they are still providing an internet streaming service. If they are then get the URL (if it has changed) as you can always add the station as a custom station (http://support.pure.com/kb_article.php?ref=8823-ALZX-3599) while we update the Pure Connect listing during the next stream check.

I have submitted a station\ podcast request. When will it appear?
It takes roughly 48 hrs for a station you have submitted to Pure Connect to appear in the Pure Connect station list. If you find it hasn’t appeared after this time then it’s more than likely already in the list (we won’t submit duplicate listings) or it streams using a method that can't be supported - like an embedded player stream.
Tip! Check the method you are using to search for the station. Don’t search for commonly used words like ‘FM’ or ‘Station’. If the station has a number in its title, e.g Radio 1602 AM, then try searching for ‘1602’ without entering any other information in the Genre and Country fields. Keep your searching as specific as possible for those hard to find stations.

What is a Podcast and why is it different to a radio station?
Podcasts are similar to internet radio stations in the respect that you can tune into station-like content and hear it on your Flow radio - but that’s about where the similarity ends. What makes a podcast different is that they can be grouped into channels or into a series, and they can be subscribed to. Subscribing to a podcast allows the content to be downloaded automatically for you to listen to whenever you are ready, but not only that, you can instruct podcasts to synchronise themselves with your radio or your MP3 player (or whatever you’re playing them on) and you can be sure you’ll always have the very latest episode in the series to listen to! You’ll find podcasts in industry too where they're becoming increasingly popular methods of distributing college and university lectures, audio tours of galleries and museums as well as being used for the rebroadcast of old radio and television programs.
Pocasts can be created by anyone and be about absolutely anything! And they’re free too.
Check out the On-Demand tab in Pure Connect and you’ll find thousands to choose from. You can add podcast streams as favorite stations and if you can’t find a series that you want you can recommend it to the Pure Connect podcast team and we’ll add it for you and make sure kept it’s updated.
You’ll be podcasting before you know it.
